Remote eLearning Day: Friday, January 23, 2026

All after-school activities, athletic events, and district programs scheduled for Friday are canceled.

All students should have received an eLearning kit. If a kit is still needed, please call your child’s school office, and one will be sent home with your child.

Student expectations for the Friday, January 23 eLearning day:

PreK Students: Please complete 10 activities of your choice from the Family Guide Kit. Your child’s teacher will communicate additional activity guidance via ParentSquare.

K-8 Students: Please complete the activities identified on the Day 1 Activity Card.

Further information regarding the completion of eLearning activity kits can be viewed by expanding the Activity Kit tab located in the Expectations section below.

Electronic copies of grade-level activity kits are also posted below for viewing and/or printing.

School closures or eLearning days are determined on a case-by-case basis by the Superintendent. During an eLearning day, attendance is taken during each class and student participation is expected.

eLearning Plan Approved Fall 2025

At the October Board of Education meeting, our School Board approved the district’s updated eLearning Plan. Zion Elementary School District 6 has developed this eLearning plan to provide flexibility when school is canceled due to weather or other emergencies and offers our students the opportunity to continue learning in the event of school closures.

Depending on the pending situation, the district may either close school for the day or shift to remote eLearning so students can continue learning from home. To avoid extending the school calendar further into June, the district will use at least 2 emergency days as school closures before enacting remote eLearning.

If a remote eLearning day is enacted, the school district may choose one of the following instructional frameworks:

  • eLearning activity kits
  • Online classroom instruction
  • Hybrid (eLearning kits and online instruction dependent upon students' access to technology)

Within the hybrid framework, K-8 students with access to technology will receive details on how to access their online classroom.

Students without access to technology will have access to eLearning resources. Printed eLearning materials for students in grades K-8 have been sent home with students.

All Pre-K students will receive a school readiness kit to replace any/all online instruction for a remote eLearning day. The kits will be sent home with our Pre-K students before the Thanksgiving break.

Please keep all eLearning materials in a safe place and reserve them for use until a remote eLearning day is enacted. If we do not have a remote eLearning day this year, you can use the materials during the summer to help your child keep learning.

This plan represents Zion Elementary District 6’s commitment to making every effort to ensure that the learning of every registered student continues to be successful. In addition, it supports student engagement independent of internet and technology resource access, minimizes disruptions, and ensures learning continues safely and effectively.
