Administration

Monica Muñoz Principal
My name is Monica Muñoz, and I look forward to what will be an exciting new school year! I am originally from Chicago, where I taught and led bilingual programming in Chicago Public Schools for 18 years. I have taught all grade levels, from second through eighth, in both Spanish and English. I have been the principal of East Elementary for over five years. I am married and am a mother of two sons. I love the outdoors, traveling, and decorating my home. I also enjoy working with and learning from my colleagues, our Zion 6 families, and students. Our students at East bring me great joy, and I feel privileged to be a part of their dual-language educational experience. The work I do is centered around high academic expectations, linguistic opportunity, and, more than anything, love and respect for all.

Beth Samuels Assistant Principal
My name is Beth Samuels, and I’m excited to return to East Elementary as the assistant principal for another year. I have over 18 years of experience in education, having taught kindergarten through fifth grade, including ESL and Dual Language. I have a deep love for children and a strong belief in creating a supportive, student-centered environment where every child can thrive. My husband Rob and I live in Wadsworth and are proud parents of six wonderful children. Both Rob and I were raised in Zion and are proud graduates of ZBTHS. It means so much to serve the Zion community, a place that shaped who I am. I’m honored to give back and will always put students first.
